[Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation.… -Col 1:15
In the Holy of Holies, the most sacred part of the Israelites Tent of Meeting, God directed Moses to have an Ark of the Covenant made with two Cherubim angels bowing low which was consecrated to holy use by the high priest. It was the place where Moses spoke face to face with God. At the same time, God prohibited the Israelites from depicting him to keep false ideas about him developing because he had no body at that time. Since the time of Jesus, however this has changed. Because Jesus took on humanity, he could be shown as a man on the cross suffering in order to remind us that he died to give us life; as the Good Shepherd who leads and cares for us; with his Sacred Heart exposed to show us his great love; or as a child to emphasize that he is approachable and loveable. The blessed image helps us draw closer to him by helping us think on his various qualities and sufferings while being a means of grace for us.
We carry a large selection of statues, crosses , and art depicting Our Lord.
